No more pencils, no more books, no more ... peaceful morning cups of tea after they get to preschool, or late morning errand running without little ones in tow, or early afternoon trips to Starbucks with your BFF  or ... afternoon mommy naps before recess!

Yikes.                    

Sure, it's easy to see why kids count down the entire school year for summer.   After being trapped inside with indoor activities for months, fun times are here again as they dash outside in bathing suits to run under a sprinkler, or play out back with buckets of water, or stay outside after dark catching fireflies in jars.  

For parents, this new season does bring independence in more ways than just Fourth of July celebrations.  Not having to set an alarm clock so as not to miss the school bus; not rushing from one after-school activity to the next while often choking down a PB&J for dinner in the mini van; not stressing about late baths and bedtimes ... yes, there are definite benefits for sure!
